Every man reaches his destination, if he just keeps walking

About This Quote

Even if you know you’re headed in the wrong direction, you can turn around and start walking in the right direction again. The phrase “every man reaches his destination” comes from Joseph Conrad’s novel, Heart of Darkness. Heart of Darkness is a book about an expedition into the Congo River by British explorer, Kurtz. As the story unfolds, the reader sees that Kurtz has fallen into a pit of corruption.

He has become lost in his mission to find ivory and gold that he is willing to sell out his own men to get at. Despite all of this, he still thinks he is justified in what he is doing. But what he truly is doing is so far removed from reality that it makes no sense at all.

This short quote reminds us that even if we are looking in the wrong direction, there is still room for learning and growth. We can always improve ourselves and make a better world for ourselves and others by learning more about ourselves and the world around us.
